My mom's curry always the best!

August 21 is the inaugural 'cook a pot of curry day'! Cliche it may be, but my mom too cooked a pot of curry veggie chicken for dinner this evening! (at my bro's & mine request!)

My mom's curry veggie chicken!

In line with the curry festivities, liked some curry comments on fb.. One of my friend also got her mom to cook a pot of curry too! And saw a non-curry related picture posted by my friend, mr A (aka Confusions), which reflects my sentiments annually (since 2004/5?). Another friend, Mr M, 发表他以'过来人'的角度的'金玉良言'。从实际的角度,他的出发点并无恶意。but I like how my friend, Confusions, replied with his usual witty humor . He incorporated the theme of August 21st as well - cook a pot of curry- as well. Can't help but liked the comment!

To quote:

Confusions' (oh yes, not 孔子): Other places may have better curry. But to me, my mum's curry will always be the best! ;)

Mr M replied nonetheless that's 'it's his life' Obviously it's Confusions' life what.. Anyway that resulted in Jon Bon Jovi's voice echoing in my head... 'it's my life...'

Oh maybe Mr M wasn't offended.. Perhaps he's trying to tell Confusions that 'it's now or never..!' cuz that's exactly the line that follows 'it's my life...' though that is uber remotely possible..

But I echo Confusions' sentiments... Nothing beats the feeling of home.. Hey, if it's a mere certificate we are looking for, sure, go for the best.. But it's not just a paper certification and head knowledge you are getting out of the 6-7 months.. But then again, it all depends what kind of mindset you are putting on when you decided to embark on that...

Sigh, I hope Mr M will be re-enlightened someday again..

As for me, the flesh is always weak but the mind is always very willing...

Happy Sunday

Was invited to a friend's surprise farewell thingy @ the PUB recreation club at the suburbs of woodleidge. Friend was heading back to homeland (across the causeway) for good right after her SOT graduation..

Was kinda surprised that I was asked (along with another member of mine after combined cg a few weeks back - but she didn't turn up eventually cuz she was supposed to take care of the granny) cuz I wasn't exactly that close to the friend who's heading home but went nonetheless..

Alright, despite me being the only one not related to that cg - others were either members or friends, I blended in.. ;)

Though I didn't really get my hand on the mic except for a couple of times (I'm not a karaoke person though I should have an alright voice - else won't be in the sch choir n choir in church), it was rather enjoyable.. ;) strengthened some friendship/bonds within this group... And yeah, I ought not be so 'shy' about singing among strangers since uhm 50% of those who sang are uhm, out of tune.. I guess I'm too much of a perfectionist - and I need to unwind..

Oh, and realizing that I can connect with people if I choose to.. Cuz I was trying best to appear engaged in conversation with this chap who kept Noel n me 'updated' on the pc stuff, why jailbreaking is essential for iPhone4..etc on our way back (cuz we reside in the same eastern part of SG). Though half of the time, my mind drifted away & I was hoping that he will talk to N instead.. Guess my auto-pilot engaging mode is darn convincing.. I was very much happy to alight with N (and rejected this chatty chap offer of walking us home!?). N was like amazed that i was able to 'entertain' him thru'out the bus journey...Realized that N stayed like a stone throw away from me.. More of a 'kantang' like me so we can talk.. but too young cuz still serving ns..

It was a good day out.. Hadn't had an enjoyable group outing for a long time..

View from the balcony terrace outside the ktv room.. Full moon!

Celebration!

10 years ago, on an early Sunday morning (or was it afternoon?), I made my way, all by myself, to the SIS as a dear friend, ming, had invited me to her church anniversary celebration..

I was rather skeptical initially as I was supposed to head there myself and thoughts of u-turning back home crossed my mind several times en-route to the event.

Nonetheless, being a person of integrity, I turned up and was shocked at the sea of human outside the SIS! Ming, who's on usher's duty - which I learnt later..- came out and whisked me in after my numerous attempt of contacting her.

Frankly, I didn't recall much of the whole event, uhm not even the message but neither did I dare to raise my then heavier and thicker arm during the altar call.. But I know I'll regret not responding cuz I promised God to be planted/rooted in the church of whichever friend has invited me. ;)

10 years & counting, I'm still very much here.. ;)

Didn't have the chance to serve this year round but nonetheless was pretty honored to be selected for the pnw choir [but due to stage technicalities, no choir at the last min.. ;(]

My pretty tame cg didn't come in coordinated outfits but at least I made a sticker for them - which was at the request of Cgl -
It was supposedly to be this...

So this is what it looks like... Though it's nothing fanciful.. (what to do, it's done out of msWords..& self-printed on labels)

but Cgl deemed the wordings too small.. Oh well...

Anyway, despite of it all, I'm still very happy & proud to be part of the Chc family... ;)

Happy 22nd anniversary!!

My all females cg- except for the Cgl!

Borrring

Yes, decorative self-adhesive is boring unexciting concept. NOT ME! Certainly not beyond e(x). I'm just acting as stamp. U inked, I stamped.. What to do?

Like clothes, there are a lot of clothes that lay forlorn in my room! Cuz I've shrank.. So i need new eggcited clothes. Maybe this applies to the change that I'm so not willing to embrace...

Oscar the grouch

Think pms has hit, I'm feeling grouchy today ...

And yes.. I wonder if I was in the wrong location today..

To cast off my blehness.. I did this on my fingers while the yakking goes on.. Nah, it works only while I doddle away.

Don't think the Oscar is noticeable by the crowd. I scooted off with the direct-bus explanation (I did take that bus service just that I alighted two stops later@ the mrt station) since 5's a crowd for cab and I wanted me-time.

Maybe Ziv was right.. Save me from the abyss...

Creative me?

Don't ask me why but the creative streak only strikes while I'm supposed to be doing something else..

I was supposed to get a bear for Jac as she'd guessed the venue of her birthday dinner correctly - thanks to google and my laziness of copying the description of the restaurant word for word off the website.. However, her hubby has banned new additions to her bears collection.. So with resources constraint (cuz I was at work and none of the fanciful craft stuff was available) I fulfilled my promise in two dimensional format, with plain a4 paper from the copier, my cheapo 12 colors only colored pencils from the old-school Big bookshop at harbourfront (randomly purchased for yet another past last minute creation), birthed forth an incarnation of her favorite ff bear- (replica from the ff wallpaper found on the website)..

Don't belittle this $1.90 twelve colored only giant! It transformed plain white paper into this:

So just added this to the fb album I'd created for my random creations.. Little did I expect 'likes' from friends ( some of which I'd not spoken to in years!)

Uhm.. So I guessed I'm gifted in arts huh!? Darned! Should have opted to take AEP during secondary school.. Or else, late boomer i am? But then again, have been drawing the ff bear since sec 2! Practice made perfect? ( but hadn't been drawing for quite a while too..)

Maybe I'm a pseudo right-hander, since it's perceived that the creative clan are left-handers..

Alright, I'm logically creative! (^O^)

The bigger the better!?

Sounds so typically Chinese.. The bigger the better.. Aesthetically issue is not critical, the key point is that the wording are to be seen even from land of far far away?

It doesn't matter that there's a reason behind the design concept. Cuz perhaps you can't read my design. Didn't bother to explain since I'm not exactly in the best of mood & super idle. Oh well, whatever...

借题发挥

As my nation celebrated her 46th birthday yesterday, massive rioting was on-going on the other side of the world.

Can't help but to think that it was sheer madness that the massive UK riot/violence/looting came about cuz the police shot a guy to his death last Thursday.

Was watching the sky news channel and was shocked to see the extent of the damage and the recklessness of the youth gangs had inflicted on the businesses & residents. The rioters simply bashed up the windows, looted from the shop, set residences n shops on fire even when people on the street watched on! It was as if war had struck London! Some of the rioters were barely teens!

And this abandoned smashed up London bus shocked me. Apparently, the crazy youths just attacked the bus with the passengers in it.. Gosh imagine you are one of the commuters in it?

There's not much cause and effect between the 'catalyst' and the resulting riot. That guy who was shot dead ain't the big boss rite? To protest the injustice done via inflicting terror and fear on the residents and business owners? Angry at the government on various issues but making yourself heard via such blatant acts of crimes? 借题发挥吧?

Barbaric! Pure madness. Pray for London!

Can't imagine that I was actually at some of these areas alone a few months ago... Really had a good time there then! And I actually felt safe traveling alone there!

Praying for peace and order to be restored soon!

Flourless attempt

One of the random stuff I was looking for at the marketplace @ rc this afternoon was applesauce, which I was unable to locate, hence made a trip to the cold storage @ tampines one. Fortunately, smartie me did not buy the bananas, which was one of the ingredient of the flourless muffin for my breakfast. Else, I will be make a trip back from tampines to marina square with the bunch of bananas! [headed back there as a friend needed my autograph on a farewell gift for a friend who will be returning to her hometown after sot graduation this month.] not too sure what made me u-turned but thought of doing that as well as catching up with Estelle at vivo after the 'autograph' as she's been busy with work.. Digress, back to flourless muffin..

So with my conventional microwave & a modified recipe from Internet .. Here's my monday breakfast:

The batter

Flourless banana mish mash!
Ingredients are minimal : organic rolled oats, bananas, egg, concentrated applesauce, a bitsy raw sugar, baking powder, salt, vanilla extract. C'est tout!

Yummy! ;)

Cuz feasting tomorrow evening!

纯粹巧合?

在偶然而无相约的状况下碰面,而且一日两次。这是纯粹碰巧吗?尽管是巧遇吧,也乐在其中。毕竟二次相处时间增加60倍!开心的星期天!(^-^)/

Happy wet Sunday...

Was famished after pnw hence headed to the usually empty Starbucks at sillylink for breakfast ...

My favourite red pepper, mushroom egg white wrap and a tall non-fat Earl Grey tea latte.

After brekkie, headed to rc in search of random items but to no avail.. ;( Headed to basement 1 in bid to find some cutesy stuff but it's seemed that it's a non-spending day..

Was deliberating whether to walk towards esplanade station or sillyhall since I'd loads of time.. Decided to take the direct route since there was a mad crowd queuing at suntec even before 8am.(think was some electrical items sale.. Saw loads of foreigners in queue and some spawned on mats!)

Turned my head and spotted a familiar Adidas green jacket. ;) the 60s of brief exchange of words that made my day.

Oh happy day! ;)

"more"

Thanks to 'runnercare', I need not sit alone. And I got a pretty good view too!!

Like the fisheye effect on the 'more'...

(pix courtesy of Jac who snapped the pix)

Word is good but wonder if I'm in the right ground for execution..

Happy for my 'linner' (lunch + dinner) @ tcc millenia walk with the lovely couple that 'adopted' me for the evening..

Had a lovely beef d'light. Yums. Loved the poached apples topping.. ;) no room for coffee though..

Great food, great company, what can I ask for? ;)

Perhaps change is really the constant in life..

Thankful for the gut feel that the whole clan will be either late or absentee again, (actually it's the latter) hence I contacted my 'lil pirates' friends last evening and joined them this evening. Else it will be rather ;( to attend the anchor service alone (esp this pre-anniversary service) when I'm not on duty. lol I should support Liverpool rite? That I will never walk alone..

Thanks Jac n Ziv for making me feel part of a family when the supposed is uhm all up and occupied.

All these seems to be poking fun at the theme next week. Corporately it seemed.. Micro-wise seemed malfunctioning.. Already doing the extra.. Or it's still within the expected?

Rain down.. My heart is dry but still I'm singing...

Wonder how long can/should I keep up with this.. It seems they advocate of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.'

I'd done what is humanly possible.. Voiced it out, bridging the gap, prayed. What's next?さよなら,新しいかずく?

Randomness

Alright, I'm being juvenile here but it's a cheap thrill after being peeved by my all time irritating 'client' - even my boss named her irritant!

It's oh so random but the short exchanges of whatsapp msg initiated not on my end over something really minor issues counteract the conversation with ms irritant earlier!

Happy Friday! ;)
