Ran

I literally ran from one appointment to another.. (Lame)

Vocal lesson was supposedly cancelled and so I decided to ask if my friend would wanna run since he is training for his IPPT gold.. Arrangements were made and ops this afternoon I found that I'd vocal 'remedial' . Fortunately, it was at 2130..

Friend & I was rather dismayed at the rain at around 4.. And I was praying for the rain to cease.. And haha friend whatsapp me!

Well, God must have heard our prayers and indeed by 7.. No rain at the CBD area! ;)

To side track, the rain locations page at the NEA website is very helpful!

I've did exactly the same route (just few hundred metres longer ) last night - and though it was more speedy & less distracting last night, I guess the company (though not much convo cuz conserving energy) made the difference ;)

Cuz of the vocal remedial with Yvonne, I couldn't stay too long for dinner after the run (though i could foresee it may be a long evening should there are no additional plans.. But I'm not complaining!), had a good convo still ;) and yeah, in line with get ministry weekend. ;)(

Vocal lesson was good and least I know my silly Bad habit.. ;) happy that my cg mate is there too and I guess singing to Yvonne is less mind boggling ;)

Hence that's my wed in nutshell!

Detoured-by choice

Was supposedly to meet a friend for dinner after friend's appointment ended at 8+ which was just nice after the run..

But friend's appointment overran so I decided to head home instead after a short workout at the gym ( cuz the new team that took over iRun was disorganized that I didn't even know the route!) since friend didn't respond to my messaging.. just so happened that phone rang when the east bound train reached the platform...As a result, i loitered 20+ minutes on the platform cuz was chatting with friend..

Perhaps the past couple of weeks in Japan had inculcate the habit of not talking in train.. But I don't like talking on the phone in the train cuz (a) your conversation is audible to all, intentionally or unintentionally (b) call might be cut off while travelling underground..

Anyway friend didn't see my Whatapps/ text and called me the moment stepped into office (mobile in office) after the work appointment..

Randomly talked about the fri PM too - cuz it's the season of prayer ;) Rain check taken so perhaps next week? ;)

Seriously, I ought to be putting in more hours to finish my work on Tuesday night instead of closing the lid of my laptop @ 18:14. The legally right reason is that I need to run.. But seriously, I too wanted to.. Hmm it didn't to exactly how I would like it to turn out.. Cuz the speed we were doing were kinda too comfy for me.. And Oooo I didn't get to do the route with the team Fb peeps but ya, he kinda wanted to do the Gardens route.. Just left the both of us.. :o

The run was not too bad, considering my tummy was giving me the runs for the afternoon and even right before I left office and oo i'd PT the day before.. The route was scenic though despite the humid weather..

We had dinner ( ok he ate, I had milo) and uhmm it was a 3 hour long dinner @ the coffee shop..my butt was hurting for sitting on the hard plastic chair for so long... Haha.. As usual, he was doing the talking most of the time., and I really admire his passion towards his job..

Oh well, there will be a second 'run' after my Japan trip. ;) well, it's always good to have another friend rite?

Me, an inspiration?

Last afternoon, received a call, out of the blue from this old friend of mine slightly just after lunch... Hmmm kinda weird that my silly tweet that synced to fb actually garnered attention .. Uhm and it actually inspired him to start prep for gold for his upcoming IPPT.. (uhm I am actually not that fast.. 2:08 for 21km..) so kinda surprised that he asked me to join him at iRun the following day to pace him.. Too bad I've cg the following day and can't join him ;I
Took a raincheck again..

But that 30+ minutes conversation sure chirped my day.. ;)

The safra bay run.. 9 Sep 2012

Regrettably, I did not complete it sub-2. I could always lament that I was still nursing the watermelon-sound-alike tummy (thanks to the bout of stomach flu that strike me one week before the race).
Or that I nearly tripped over the kerb near 7km mark at tanjong rhu. Or my stomach cramp struck at 8-9km..Or that my calves was too tight at 17km that I slowed considerably to find the salon pas station..
Or I didn't get to sleep until 11pm (& woke up at 2-ish cuz my friend was picking me up at 320).
Or i went for PT on friday night.
Or i had not rested on Sat cuz Dad got into accident on Friday night that i spent whole of sat am at CGH A&E and rushed down to expo thereafter cuz i was on duty for service..
Or simply, I have never ran consistently at pace faster than 6min/km for > 12 km.. Throughout the training..
I guessed I was not that disciplined ( which my PT, E, will translate as KS and I am continuing growing my fats). Like what E would say - your greatest enemy is yourself.. Which is true to a certain extent ...
Still I am happy to go through the process and finish the course amid the chain of explanation listed above and shaved a couple of minutes off the previous
timing at the 2011 Singapore Bay Run..
Before the run..

My tee!

Trusty Adidas adios

After the race...

Friend I gotta know from the two team fatbird op I participated ;)

My timing!

Yippie! Mission accomplished!

Amazingly, the ranking in the open category will be better with the same timing but I guess most locals (SG & PR) signed up for the closed category.. Nonetheless it's still within the 100..
Well, without God, this won't be possible.. Cuz with all the cited reasons above, I might have give up half way due to sheer tiredness .. Well I guess there lies a similar spiritual parallel too. ;)

Spent the bus journey from woodlands to tampines reading something which I wished was a contrast opposite. Sigh..

Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you
moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God. (Psalm 42:11 AMP)

I guess this sums it all. God is in control. ;) all the time.

Purported intention

According to thefreedictionary.com, purported :
adj
alleged; supposed; rumoured

Another online dictionary, Merriam-webster.com defines purported as: reputed, alleged.

Henceforth, the 'purported intention' as mentioned in the COC's press release merely implied that there is a rumored/ alleged intention .. It's not a verdict/ judgement passed, yet this sets many tongues wagging and loads of commentary online that all are guilty.

Was chatting with a friend online this afternoon after he sent me the CNA, and giving him my layman deduction on how on earth the allegation arose without even reading COC's annex .. And somehow, it was along the same line of argument. I guess it's God's way of reassurance.. ;)

Grey area, aren't we too fond of this term.

Ideally, you should be able to split between X & Y. Yet many a times, you can't do that in reality. Say Company A sponsors a charity show. Would this sponsorship qualifies as Company A's donation? Yet one cannot deny that Company A derives some form of marketing/ advertising for its brand name, can you? Because of this event, Company A's brand awareness increase.. That's the positive by-product of sponsoring the event and to a certain extent, Company A may even engage in the sponsorship in bid to boost its brand name. Yet, the charity show organizer is unlikely to charge a marketing fee for the free marketing that comes by.

It was already spelt out upfront that it is a cross over project. So there will be evangelistic concerts. Is it logical to think that the record company will pay for such events? Or do you think that the record company would volunteer to pay for the spin-off promotional effects that these evangelistic meetings have on the records? Obviously not.

As for the other allegations listed in the annex, it may or may not be good corporate governance on some of the irregularities.. if there is really intention to siphon the funds, why not simply set up a shell company in tax havens?

As for me, whatever amount was given or has been giving.. Is given unto God. It's up to the stewards that God has placed in charge of the funds to be accountable of how the funds are utilized. Well, if there was really any hanky panky going on, won't they have already suffered the same fate as Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5?

Don't be too quick to jump into conclusion. And only a handful in Sg are empowered by God to judge - and working as judges. If you ain't the judge, don't judge, else you too will be judged.

And I am glad that I am serving this weekend. ;) still. Guess until the 'soon' day arrives. ;)

My church, my life. ;)

Happy Tuesday

Last evening, 15 minutes prior to bidding さよなら to the workpile, the phone rang from an old friend, last point of contact was work related sorta...

Call was totally unexpected cuz I was just expecting a reply via the fb messaging.

And while chatting with the friend ( trying not to keep volume down) on the phone, the hand conveniently picked up the pencil and started doodling randomly...

Not exactly an artpiece but not too bad I guess... Wonder why flowers though that was totally far cry from what our conversation topic.. :p

Nonetheless that sorta brightened my day else I won't be that chirpy at the end of the day.. ;)

Humbled

I was not exactly expecting a reply when I posted a message on pastor's fb.. Since there are quite a number of new posts now & then.

I was surprised that seconds after I clicked sent - I received a notification that pastor has commented on my post!

Humbled cuz he took the effort to reply personally despite his busy schedule n it's midnight and he is still awake ., unlike some of us who just mass posted a thank you note as a status update ..

Gotta repent & be appreciative of those who cared enough to take a couple of minutes to drop their well-wishes ;)

Good Friday.. Easter Sunday

As a child, I'd always like good Friday.. I associate easter with Easter bunnies & chocolate eggs.. That was before I got to know the true meaning of Good Friday & Easter Sunday..

Did a short round the park prior to heading out to service this morning, despite the looming dark clouds seemed to be accumulating.. Not exactly a run since it's just a 5 & at the slow speed of 7km/hr.. Shortened the route since the wind was getting stronger & chilly and the clouds looked angry..

Somehow, this reminded me of the scene of Jesus' crucifixion..and in a flash of moment, I felt His presence & His words rang in my ears..

His words will not return to Him void but yet my faith is still smaller than the mustard seed.. Help my unbelief..

Guess being the Martha for the longest period of time had resulted in the current situation.. Until I can be like Mary..

I guessed being at where I am right now is for a divine reason though I am not exactly sure what. But I know the drive & passion I had few years back had surely depleted .. And the chain of events in this past couple of years had definitely been a catalyst of sort. Not finger pointing but I have myself to blame.. Guess I will enjoy this vacation breathing with Him until what was lost is regained somewhat..

And gosh! I was really peeved & yet amused by what the RW guy wrote on his Fb. Well if he is really the advocate of Grace, why ain't he be a doer of his belief and extend the grace to those he perceived to be stepping on the grey areas. Ain't he hypocritical to be advocate of grace and yet not gracious enough to stop harping on the perceived loopholes that were explored and extend his judgement on the matter?

上梁不正下梁歪也. He is certainly not portraying his leader is a good light .. Since he had left more than 1.5 years ago, why is he still following on the latest development & harping on matters which the judicial system in singapore has not pass a verdict on? Wonder if he understand what grace really is..

Oh yeah, milo doesn't come in a box and we didn't receive a tin last week. Writing that load of grey grace stuff as his status update really undermine his professionalism despite that he is supposedly a lecturer & financial planner .. etc oh well..

Well hope his teacher of grace will teach him what grace is this weekend. ;)

Egypt to the Promise Land..

It's been nearly 6 months since 'migration' and the promised sayonara has yet (and i think highly unlikely) will be materialized. Well, I'm not being bitter about it but this just dilutes the meaning to "Your word is your bond", somehow credibility has taken yet another dip. Oh well, perhaps to the rest, I've just done another disappearing act (again), but perhaps, that has been the most sensible decision made in 2011. Which is good, else I would definitely be super duber cynical especially in the season of 'r/s'. I've tried for the past few years (in total) but it seems not easy to plough though the dermis level. It just didn't make sense for my pseudo existence within simply because by virtue of amalgamation of the dispersed groups, I was assigned to be there and i chose then to be there thinking that I could be of some help. Perhaps I was naive, effort doesn't necessarily translate into success.. Anyhow, at least I had done what I was supposed to do and since that was not yielding any effects and somewhat not really appreciated/ reciprocated...time to sweep the dust and move on..

'Remembering' does not equivalates to 'unforgiveness'. It just so happens that God has given me with a brain that somehow retain bits and pieces of information longer than the norm. My sniper sight has given me the leeway to divert my path to avoid unpleasant encounters so far but I guess I would try to be a little more short sighted and not divert my path should I see the landmine ahead. I will step on it and flash my thousand mega watt. :D

But God is good.. at least , it feels like being in the land of milk and honey now..  Was apprehensive initially since I don't really know anyone of them except Jus and majority of them are staff/tv ministry leaders.. but it was not the first time being minority in a rather foreign land (guess the first experience was heading to the defuct hwa chong while the mass majority of my cohort chose the eastern jcs..).  Guess my fears were unfounded cuz since i can be classified as 'integrated' by now..

Really felt like the journey from Egypt to the Promise Land..  cuz at cg meeting (which is not the conventionally weekly due to the operational nature of the cg), filled not just spiritually with the Word and Presence but filled physically too.. cuz pst yong is a really good cook! :)

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Rom 8:28
Enjoying the spring time while it last.. :)

winter's over!

Winter's over.. and spring's here! I've been hibernating for quite a while.. :) Perhaps it's time to clear the spiderwebs? :)

The filing peak is over and yay! It's my annual vacation time again! :) Yippie :)

DIY manicure

Thanks to the hectic period and the growing toenail (thanks to post vainpot syndrome of wearing covered high heels), I didn't fix up mani/pedi appointment for the festive CNY..

Chanced upon this YouTube channel: cutepolish recently & found the videos easy to follow. ;)

Henceforth, decided up try out a simple design all in the name of CNY..

Silly me did this before CNY spring-cleaning and hence 年除夕。

So on 年初一, I tried another design using more festive colors ..

To think that I paid $4 a nail for this simple design (and the whites were just acrylic paint dotted on!)

Not a bad way to moonlight huh.. $40 - more than sufficient to cover the cost of material!!

Reminder?

I was doing my spring cleaning (aka getting rid of years of unused stuff hoarded) when I came across this Xmas present given to me years ago, should be Xmas 2004.. (which I forgot who gave me this) which uhm has not been put to use (yet) due to a whole array of reasons.. Popping out at this point in time.. I wonder if it's a sign that it's time to fulfill its purpose ... - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
