Purported intention

According to thefreedictionary.com, purported :
adj
alleged; supposed; rumoured

Another online dictionary, Merriam-webster.com defines purported as: reputed, alleged.

Henceforth, the 'purported intention' as mentioned in the COC's press release merely implied that there is a rumored/ alleged intention .. It's not a verdict/ judgement passed, yet this sets many tongues wagging and loads of commentary online that all are guilty.

Was chatting with a friend online this afternoon after he sent me the CNA, and giving him my layman deduction on how on earth the allegation arose without even reading COC's annex .. And somehow, it was along the same line of argument. I guess it's God's way of reassurance.. ;)

Grey area, aren't we too fond of this term.

Ideally, you should be able to split between X & Y. Yet many a times, you can't do that in reality. Say Company A sponsors a charity show. Would this sponsorship qualifies as Company A's donation? Yet one cannot deny that Company A derives some form of marketing/ advertising for its brand name, can you? Because of this event, Company A's brand awareness increase.. That's the positive by-product of sponsoring the event and to a certain extent, Company A may even engage in the sponsorship in bid to boost its brand name. Yet, the charity show organizer is unlikely to charge a marketing fee for the free marketing that comes by.

It was already spelt out upfront that it is a cross over project. So there will be evangelistic concerts. Is it logical to think that the record company will pay for such events? Or do you think that the record company would volunteer to pay for the spin-off promotional effects that these evangelistic meetings have on the records? Obviously not.

As for the other allegations listed in the annex, it may or may not be good corporate governance on some of the irregularities.. if there is really intention to siphon the funds, why not simply set up a shell company in tax havens?

As for me, whatever amount was given or has been giving.. Is given unto God. It's up to the stewards that God has placed in charge of the funds to be accountable of how the funds are utilized. Well, if there was really any hanky panky going on, won't they have already suffered the same fate as Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5?

Don't be too quick to jump into conclusion. And only a handful in Sg are empowered by God to judge - and working as judges. If you ain't the judge, don't judge, else you too will be judged.

And I am glad that I am serving this weekend. ;) still. Guess until the 'soon' day arrives. ;)

My church, my life. ;)
