Smile

Thanks for bringing a smile on my face when i was kinda emo/pissed yesterday and earlier again this evening.. Though you won't know it.. But the out-o-the-blue message this evening took the 'pissness' away after the rigid reply I got from the am.. Oh well, whatever .. ;)

Thanks! :)

Think before you click!

Lol, the moral of the story is - curiosity breeds virus!

I was surprised to see a few of my friends, guys and gals posted a blog link (saw two permutations so far) to some suggestive site with lucid video still-shot.

If it's guys suggesting such link, I can understand since they are perceived to be the hormones raging species.. But goody good gals?

So last nite, giving this guy friend the benefit of doubt that he ain't the 'hum-sup' one, texted him that his fb might have been hacked or compromised. No reply from him though whatsapp status was sent.. Wonder if he too shy to acknowledge clicking of the link.. ( not that chummy with him but 日行一善, save him a tarnished image), no response thereafter. But that post was deleted two hours later.. So did the other friends' posts on that weird site - maybe fb did a mass delete?

This afternoon, spotted my PT posting yet another dubious link:

Lol, so being a good Samaritan, told him that his FB account compromised cuz he posted x-rated link.. Cuz it's unlike him to post stuff, let alone share links!! Was more direct in my text cuz like my big bro. Think he was in shock when he saw my msg.. Until I snapshot the above as proof! Cuz he thought the link was juz a joke n didn't expect the worm within the hoax site to self-posted in his fb..

Now I wonder how my gals pals got the virus.. Maybe they too were curious on the links posted by their friends??

Ooo incidentally, the 'shy' friend whom I thought was too shy to acknowledge my msg replied. Lol, he did clicked on to the dubious link shared by his friends and found himself in weird websites... LOL..

Sigh, raging hormones that led to infections! Lol! Moral of story.. Use protection! I mean anti-virus software.. And for the hormones-raging adults - protection is equally important.. ;)

Intellectual rights

I am not being self-righteous here but somehow I am surprised at the no. of responses to a nice gesture of a friend who offered to forward the mp3 file which he paid USD 6.42 inclusive of GST (assuming he bought both) to those who pm-ed him.

Nah, even though if I'd not purchased a copy when I saw the fb status update, I would still fork out the amount. I guess that amount might be equivalent to say an alright set lunch? ( which I think topping up may be required..)

Well, perhaps it's just me, I believe in making the worthwhile investment and not depriving the author of their dues:

Perhaps you may think I'm naive but if that's meant for public circulation, then why should it be on sale in the first place? The other school of thoughts would probably think I've too much money to spare and why bother to pay when there's a free source.

Then again, I'm not that silly to comment in that thread since I am not out to make enemies. Well, your heart  is where you lay your treasures right? :)

Oh well, I'm against piracy, but I like playing the lil pirates - that's the only instance that's it's ok to loot cuz it's a make believe-world .. Though it's rather irritating when your treasures were looted by other 'pirates'.

Bleh to the free-riders ..

Pearls & Storms

It was a wise (divine) choice to shift my pt to weekday evening instead of the original slot of sunday 9am, else i would miss instalment 2 of the sharing by one of my favorite pastors - Dr AR Bernard.

I don't wanna be like Jonah cuz being in the whale's tummy once is bad enough.. and certainly I would not want to go thru that all over again... Obedience is not an easy option all the time... learning still.. :)

Ultra

Part of the running route of the uber-endurance 100km sundown ultramarathon last Saturday was actually in my neighbourhood.

Realised that while I was doing my humble short 1 round of the pasir ris park on sunday evening.. ( i guessed if I'd woken up earlier to do a run before heading to serivce, i might have bump into some of the ultra runners..) if I was brave & gung-ho enough to sign up for the sundown ultramarathon, I would have been tempted to head home if I ever get to this point ..

Going 24km more after the 38km mark and back to the same place again is torturous. Being reminded there's another 38km to go before reaching the marina barrage will steer my direction home should I be running the race cuz it's just less than 1 km away. :)

Kudos to the heroes n heroines who finish the full course.

Until then, thou shall continue to strive for my pb in the friendlier full marathon. ;)

embracing technology - not

Much as I pride myself to be a techie/gadget-embracer, when it comes to notes taking, I prefer my good-old fashioned notes & paper. I know it's definitely not the most environmentally friend option as compared to taking notes via the gadgets - but on another perspective, it's energy friendly, since i won't need to utilise electricity to power on the gadget.. etc and in times of power/gadget failure - I can refer to it still. :) And ego me kinda like the font - hermione's calligraphy (unavailable on apps/ wordprocessing software, copyrighted to yours truly), though it gets messier when the writer's hand fights against the speed at which the speaker articulate his thoughts.. abeit typos at times, i prefer my handwritten notes..

my uber thick B5 notebook from accessorize (cuz i <3 the cover with my cutesy kikki.k pen. :) . Alright, cuz I'm kinda of a stationary fanatic.. lol buying notebooks is a valid reason cuz i <3 taking down notes.. scribe, perhaps i am. :)

alright, all this to convince myself why I don't need to get a gadget for note taking .. and gaming wise - the iPhone 4 is still functional (though available space on my 32G is running low - time to delete the pix and unless apps.. and streamline songs to be sync from iTunes). And no MacAir until my pinkie vaio decides to retire.. on-going GSS has not much of an effect on me..yet. :)

Up.sat.

Not exactly an 'up' 'saturday'. Hence the title.

Was kind of neutral towards the new arrangement but I certainly grown to like the previous mashed arrangement for the past couple of months. Though I know it (the mashed) won't be a long term arrangement but I was actually getting used to it and look forward to it as a matter of fact.

Oh well, let's see how July goes.. I hope to revert to the mashed arrangement.

Plain rambles.

Missing...

Not exactly missing soursally but that face is what I'm feeling about this..

Procrastinate

If I ever draw up a "Things To Do List", I'm sure I could fill up at least an A4 page. Yet, these are things that I keep pushing them to the "Keep In View" list. Perhaps these are not of top priority or simply, there is still a lack of motivation to put them into action.

Perhaps i should start with a relatively simple task - clearing out the old textbooks (and what's not). Oh yes, I still have those O-level 10-year series somewhere.. Not that I'll take them out for revision - actually I would have already forgotten how to solve those questions that eons ago, a breeze for me then. Short-term memory, perhaps. And those nick-nacks that could be a decades old that I should probably dump them..
Then, i would have cabinet space for the heaps of clothes which I should probably first sieve through for those that can be donated to the salvation army..( Or flea market - but it's a hassle to rent a flee market stall and sell of those wares.. - donating to the charity seemed like a easier way.  Or selling them to the rag & bone man - but kinda not able to bear the fact that some of those togs are probably worth much more a piece than what they will fetch collectively.. - Hence, to the charity bin seemed more justifiable.)

And perhaps, taking the basic theory exam so i could probably stop wasting money on taxi when I could spend that on a depreciating asset that fetches me around. [which I'd probably deferred in doing for say at least 7-8 years.. ]

And the list goes on...

If I'm not an accountant, I would probably be...

a doctor? surgeon?

Nah, unless I do self surgery. I'm definitely against self-mutation! That's cranky & perverted.. I cringed at ER scenes.. Or bloody gory scenes..

But when it comes to cleaning my own wound, I'm alright to pour concentrated dettol over the wound, clean up the gooey pus, remove the dead skin cells, pour iodine or even 青草油 over the wound. (I have high threshold for pain)..

So two to three weeks ago, my itchy hands over scratched this spot at my right shin which either was bruised/ insect bitten or whatever till gasp the raw skin emerged.. ;( itchy finger teased the dead brown scab when it was about to heal .. Think the area was either infected by gasp perspiration from the runs.. The dirt.. The sunblock solution..

So this was the infected spot

Semi-treated

I must have contaminated it again cuz I was scratching along the edge.. :(

Last evening after my short run which I tried to incorporate intervals .. Realized that pus oozing again .. Bad! Pluck out the dead 'debris' with my dettol doused tweezer, dabbed off the blood n pus.. And without other ointment in stock, drip the 青草油 again.

Wasn't expecting pus stained plaster today cuz it wa supposedly cleaned.. Hence, dropped by the clinic just before it closed for the day.. And ended up being the subject for the two interns to showcase my wound and what ought be the diagnosis.

Doc even commented that I did a good job in cleaning the wound cuz not much of pus to show the interns. Lol. Not too bad rite? I ought to switch course of study in JC and continue in biology.. ;)

The 'cleaned' infected site.

The bandaged ;) which is good so that I won't be able to scratch!

Doc is sweet, offered to help me change dressing daily should I not be able to stand the sight of the pus n etc. Obviously I didn't tell her I plucked off the skin with tweezer etc.. It was quite gruesome actually. Perhaps nc16. Lol.

Oh well, it's gonna take longer for complete recovery due to the bony shin area..

Okay I need mittens! ;)

Shape running training session

Woke up really early this morning to head to the moe ccab at bukit timah rd for the shape training run.. Thank God for the cab that came only after a couple minutes of waiting time..

It was a rather lovely morning .. Caught the sun rising among the clouds..

I think I made a wise choice of not turning up for the 1st session of the training session last month that precede a couple hours later after sundown marathon. I would not have benefitted from it. Cuz it really rather demanding.

Wasn't in the best form this morning - was wondering where did the crampy feeling came from until the mystery was revealed a couple hours later - the womanly issue .. ;( But then again, a split between 1:45 to 2:00 for 400m for 10 intervals with 1min plus rest in between wasn't too bad though this probably 60-70% max capacity.

Might consider going to Coach Shem's running class to improve my pb.. Like his training style .. ;)

Coach Shem debriefing us after the respective groups finish their intervals trainings.

Didn't realised that I'd left my other card case with the ezlink card & gym pass on my bed until I was in the cab. Hence, walked a short 30min to newton mrt station .. Anyway kinda missed bukit timah cuz bring back find memories of JC years.. I guess the daily 1.5 hour commuting via bus from east had been worthwhile .. Though perhaps it seemed ridiculous to many to travel a distance so far where there were two other top JCs nearer to home that were like at most 30min away via bus.

Yay! I made it to the mrt station! ;) though my havaianas had left two blisters on my feet. ;( but thought it was already rather seasoned?

Snooze time for now... Will attempt the new tips learnt this morning later this week.. ;)

Unpotted and not easily uprooted

Met up with my new financial advisor this afternoon before service to get my new policy cert. So sweet of her, bought me a Starbucks gift card too..:) yay I've two now!!!

It's not that i'd know her for a long while, say only when she took over my policies from agent D that took over from my inital agent E who left the agency, which I learnt shockingly from the standard mail. Oh well..
It's history now.

Anyway, felt at ease with the new advisor, and we chatted leisurely for an hour plus .. Which somehow leisurely led to the banana split .. (pun intended).
(official) reason cited seemed contradicting n feeble now.. Hello, my grey matter processing power us rather strong..

Oh well, no potted plant syndrome for me, regardless.. Unless it's contradicting to the Word. What I told Him 10-11 years ago still stands - I'll stay planted in church of whichever friend that first invited me.. [thankfully it was Huiming that causally pass the invite out en mass to us the vnr peeps which I'm the only one that turn up]. ;)

There is no perfect whatsoever since we're on earth. But if the core belief is contradictory to what you base your belief on, then what are you believing in anyway?

Oh well, happy to be not in the loop of the banana split but nonetheless, still of above average of the intelligent quotient ..

Prior to zzz, had my dosage of grapevine thru fb .. Saw a friend's fb comment - was indignant initially on the friend's friend's first comment but hey, I guess that's so typical ..

oh well, I don't know if my friend's friend's last sentence has hidden meaning as well? Perhaps? Lalalalala...

Mid-week

Yay! Two more days to Friday!! Counting down!!

Had been a busy week so far.. With work.. Tsk tsk.. Though Monday nite was fun n had a good catch up with an ex-colleague at this korean place, sarang, at OC.. Cuz all three of us were clueless of where to dine..

I'm not a big fan of Korean cuisine since I'm one of the rare Singaporeans that (gasp) add tomato ketchup to her dried version of bak chor mee, fishball noodles etc. So chili and I aren't best of friends.. So yes, I don't fancy kim chi.. I guess it's the distinct smell & taste that repels! But pepper is good. Lol, not to digress, the food was well alright. To share- We ordered an 'yin yang pancake (kimchi jeon & pa jeon) which was pan-fried kimchi & scallion pancake.

Needless to say, I prefer the latter and it's more palatable than the 'panda noodle (jajang meyon). It's supposed to be wok-fried noodles with pork, vegetables in black bean sauce but it tasted peculiarly sweet! ;(

Ordered a stew as well, which wy & I thought it sounded relatively harmless - ' under the sea' : a seafood and tofu hotpot.
It was really hot (i.e. Spicy!) to us cuz we are the ketchup kids!

Well, didn't have the chance to snap a lot of the food, hence the three pix above were taken from the website, added the ribbon tags. ;) our dishes don't really resemble the menu's pictorial representation though..

But I did snap the most edible dish (my opinion) despite it's still on the sweet side.. - 'shooting star (dak galbi)' - marinated chicken on sizzling hotplate.

Well, tasted like BBQ chicken dish u get at the korean stalls at food courts, but a tad sweeter .. ;)

To end off the day, we re-lived the life of youths and went for ice-cream @ the cold stone creamery.

It seems like a fun working environment whereby the staff performed minor acrobatic stunts like flipping ur scoop of ice cream in the air before it landed on the ice-cold metal surface.. Fun!

The evidence of sin were happily consumed.. ;) so no pictures!!

But on a side note, my yummy dessert for lunch - igloo yogurt!
Had a twin flavour - raspberry tart & blueberry! Yums!

Childlikeness..

Alright, I'm kinda overage to be going gaga over the cuddlies but finding the paddington bear was one of the top priority in London, as compared to the clothing & accessories..

Oh yes, huge stop front of some of my favourite labels like Topshop, River island.. But I suppose the close proximity of the local outlets in the nearby Vivocity has kept my wardrobe up to date with the latest trend, or at least. The only thing regretted not buying was the cute pair of jelly shoes (rather pricey at abt £80-90) and the cutesy snoopy pj which I thought I will find it here but apparently it has not reached our shores...

Anyway I was pretty upset with not buying the paddington bear at the paddington bear shop at the paddington main rail station as I thought I would come by again during my short stay there.. But three days too short in London with the many museums and sights to visit!

Hence at the very last day, popped by the gift store outside Tower of London (which was very near my hotel) in search for one..

Tempted to buy the book too but bought a mini keychain one.. At the departure area in Heathrow.. Spent my remaining pounds on a couple more bears.. Bliss!

My happy 'my first paddington' with my polling card!

Nah, I don't play make belief with the cuddly.. Perhaps it's the thrill of fulfilling a childhood wish..

Bought this lovely crossover bag too! That's about the only luxury item I bought in London.. ;) Perhaps the fact the lack of luggage space played a part in the restricted spree!

Very random post.. Gosh i wonder when will I be heading back to europe again? ;)

Anyway.. Back to childlikeness.. Childlike faith to believe what's spoken and has yet come to pass! ;)

More than ?

I don't know what came over me but I'd signed up for the marina 21 after a friend's recommendation.

After the registration, I realized that the following morning is the SHAPE run - an annual event for me since 2009! Somehow marina 21 seems more alluring.. ;)

Anyway I'll be doing the GE earlier in July.. Think a half mara (with friend) seemed more fun than a 10K (alone) that will be packed with mixture of recreation / serious runners. Though it's an all women event, I don't exactly enjoy maneuvering ard the walkers..

Played with the idea of doing both, and still can make it for s2 at 10 since I'll be done by 8. If I'm up to it sans sweat, I could still serve.. Since the flagoff is near suntec! That was what I did last year after the nike 10k .. Took a cab down to expo after the run n served s2. ;)

Chat window that wrap up the day. ;) Nitez world!

Is there anything too hard for Me?

A couple of weeks ago, I met up with my new financial advisor. doreen, (who took over us the orphans.. from she/he who left for future endeavours..) for lunch as well for some planning for the rainy day.. as some may know, i'd a brief stint @ ngo which lasted for a month and my profession as an advisor ended on the day I official obtain the license.. - cuz sales is really not my forte - though passing the required exams a breeze. :) lol anyway.. my new advisor didn't recall seeing me in the office though she was already working there before my brief one month stint.. until she saw my identity card.. - and she exclaimed..' ooo i remember you.. wow. u lost much weight.. aiyo, you won't have problem finding a bf!"

being the one that sees one reflection daily, one won't notice the difference.. it didn't occur to me the change in appearance the diminsh on the scales made.. until i saw an old pix of me.. i nearly fainted..

i think this was probably the 'me' that Doreen saw..(pix taken @ kelly's wedding dinner) standing next to slim eileen makes me bigger even!

and i was still gloriously round in 2009..as evidient from this pix taken with some of the sops i found in an aug 09 post.. gosh..

thanks to the freed-up time due to the "great depression" in 2007, diverted my time and energy to the sport I have DETESTED the most since young.. under the scrutiny of my friend/trainer.. who progressively increased the intensity of his 'evil' regime upon me year by year since 07 -the nagging of my food consumption and the mad amount of mileage he made me clocked to get me conditioned for the first full marathorn in Dec 2010.. that resulted in the reduced-size me..

me after training last Thurs

a few years ago, it has never cross my mind that I will ever shed the 'plus-size' image and it was my favourite excuse that my minor back problem make it impossible for me to run.. oh well.. as you may know by now.. I'm now the contrasting opposite.. :)

Well, as I'd shared with some of my pals during cg this week, God spoke to me on a couple of things during the gruelling boring sundown.. it was like my very long QT and really quiet since it's in the still of the night and strangely, the playlist consists mixture of songs..gospel, jazz, and the happy glee music - Not eaxctly the music that one will expect to voom the performance.. but this works for me... :)

God is a humourous God. He likes to make us do things that we, in our limited knowledge, deem as mission impossible. But what's formerly impossible to me - to shed pounds. to overcome the 'fear of running', has came to pass..

so He said - is there anything too hard for me..
uhm me - speechless.. i know what's coming next - what I had been running away from - the longest of time.. but then what He has spoken, it will not return to Him void.

I was then reminded that our spiritual walk is liken to the marathon.. During the sundown mara, J was with me for the first 10k which i felt obligated not to stop and simply because there's support ..when J left to catch up with A, i was left by myself and the temptations to stop running were plenty and the thoughts to simply give up - with the sheer reason that my hip liagment is still recovering - cross my mind many a times.. But since quitting is not an option for me - I continued on..and at the point whereby I was ready to walk all the way..J reappeared.. and we pressed on, cheered each other on to crossing the finish line.

Drawing a parallel, it's unavoidable that in our spiritual walk, we will definitely encounter temptations, setbacks, trials. yet, we need to remain focus on the purpose, and imperative to keep grounded with like-minded friends.. cuz with the support of friends.. (hence important not to endulge in self-pity party), we will definitely rebounce and get back on track.. :)

and hence.. there's really nothing too hard for God.. Divinely it seemed, that what I felt impressed upon me was totally in line with the cg word this week and the word pst shared during service. I guess it's all falling back in place again. :) the picture is fuzzy but somehow it's getting brighter.. :)

Indecisive

I was happily out of house, clad in my topshop checkered shorts n a navy blue frilly MNG blouse n my espadrilles platform and thought the outfit was good.

Once out of the lift, I decided that the outfit was mismatched and popped back home to change the bottoms. Now I look dressed for work (save for the shoes) than out.. Lol.

The polka dots Zara that I changed into.. I adore the white lacy tee I got from topshop.. It's so girly! I looked washed out cuz that was me sans make up after gym on Monday. ;)

Just a swop of the bottoms but the overall feel is different! ;) though I should have changed my shoes as well but it's too late to change now.. Oredi en route jw. ;)

this was my eventual outfit.. needless to say where the pix was snapped..(hence the akward position else body chopped off by the two panels of mirrors) i miss jw cubicles.. the mirrors within!  :)

Illogical

morning
Was running late, so I hailed a cab to work ( which was I was doing for past two weeks!). Glad I did, else I would be vey late for the meeting that was pushed forward - notified via email which was sent on thurs?

evening
I was too tired but chose to travel on bus to the station cuz of company..

Enjoyed the additional traveling time . I made the most out if it! ;)
It was a happy extra 45 min!

Well they say women are illogical rite? Oh well, perhaps.

Distracted

Can the think cells rest for a while & don't link everything up with the same one object?!

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Sundown, sunrise

Usually, for the long runs i'd done so far, it's more of a solo activity.. I guess distance running ain't a sport that my closer gal pals are into... Not as if I'm a fast runner.. I'm still alright in terms of speed..

But I was glad that for a change, I'd running buddy for the sundown last night/ this morning cuz it was really a very boring non- scenic route. A walk in the park by night is romantic but running along ECP without much view was not exactly how I would describe a pleasurable run.. I think the 10Km & 21Km would be worse.. Cuz unless u adore the Changi airport runway..

It was rather festive feel when we reached Changi exhibition centre close to 9:10.. (stuck in shuttle bus for 20-30 min cuz traffic congested! Fortunately A suggested we take shuttle instead ! Else meter fared cab ride would be atrocious! Distance running is definitely not a female sport judging from the gender disparity of the participants.

Light sticks n rings were given out to light up the darkness .. Was kinda glad for the neon bracelet cuz my Nike+ sport band does not have a back light!

Kinda amazed that I've the stamina to actually chat with him like on n off thru'out the grueling stretch of Changi Coast Rd.. Frankly, if I wasn't running with J, I would probably started walking sooner than until the Lagoon stretch, when I urged him to go catch up with his friend, A,who sprinted off too fast initially (but we ended up finishing an hour or so ahead of A). After J went ahead, I started my long walk for the whole of the worthy to be praised - lol having QT in the middle of ECP with the cooling nite breeze! ;)

Adopted the random strategy of resting(i.e walk) upon reaching certain landmark etc and resting a brief moment in the loo.. Pure bliss to see the u-turn sign at Fort Rd...

Well, thank goodness I came prepared with my nano (but actually playlist is rather soothing then upbeat but doesn't matter so long it's music.. ;)) else there's nothing much to see in pitch dark east coast!

Oh well, anyway was happily counting down to 28/29 km mark and I felt someone pulled alongside me.. Lol it was J. Was surprised cuz I did not even overtake them (apparently A went loo soon after J caught up with him but was kinda tired by then!) so was kinda running with J for a while until I told him he could blast ahead if he wanted to.. But guessed he had speed but no stamina, ended up we caught up with each other .. stirred each other up to finish the run together.

At least, it was enjoyable and I was not as tired as the Passion run despite the extra 17k. Timing was 30+ min slower than my virgin attempt but on the note I was nursing a healing hip muscle strain .. And jogging at a pace of chatting for at least 10km .. It was enjoyable and not taxing. Then again, should I not chat, I would have more energy and hence better timing rite?

Well it's not the destination that matters but the journey that brings us to the destination..

While waiting for A to arrive, was left with not much of choice but to chat with J. Sweet of him to offer to limp to help me change the finisher tee cuz I took S instead of the smaller XS but no changes was allowed n he made a wasted trip.

While waiting for A to emerge, (which was ard an hour or so
later), had a good chat with J. Oh well, felt good actually cuz it has been a long time since I'd oppty to talk peer to peer on spiritual stuff. (which rouse me to write a super long email to cgl thereafter!)

A finally appeared at ard 5 dead tired.. Lol so let him rest/snooze while more since the next bus was at 6.

Took the free shuttle to Changi village and changed a 109 to white sands in search for food - the golden arch!

I must be too tired cuz though hungry ( I thought I was cuz kept complaining to J that I was hungry during the run), managed to finish only 50 % of the meal.

All in all it was an enjoyable run. I beaten the sunrise... Lol

If I'm going to participate sundown again next Ye, must find friends to do it as a group! ;)
